Weekend Recap: Trans-Am at Virginia International Raceway

September 28, 2020 – It was a tough weekend for Jett Noland the Mike Cope Racing No.66 crew at Virginia International Raceway. After showing signs of speed Friday afternoon in Practice, electrical gremlins plagued the team during both feature races.

“It was a tough weekend for sure, said Noland. Saturday we started 10th, moved up to 9th and then the engine started cutting out under caution. Then we had to bring the Noland’s Roofing ride back down pit road and had to get it fixed up. I was thrilled that we drove back up to tenth after that.

Once the race was over, the Mike Cope Racing guys obviously went back over the car to make sure the issue was fixed, but unfortunately come Sunday we battled issues the whole race. You’ll have that sometimes, but I know my guys back at the shop are going to go over this thing with a fine tooth comb before Circuit of the Americas. We’ll get them then.”

Though the next Trans Am event isn’t until November, Noland will be keeping the driver’s seat warm. October 10th he’ll be competing in the Winchester 400 with Mike Cope Racing. Then he’ll be racing in St. Petersburg with the Stadium Super Trucks the weekend of the 24th. Stay tuned to JettNoland.com for details on his schedule.

Weekend Preview: Trans-Am at Virginia International Raceway

September 24, 2020 – Jett Noland will be back behind the wheel this weekend of the Mike Cope Racing No. 66 at Virginia International Raceway. Noland will have two chances at picking up his first Trans Am Series victory this weekend. The Trans Am TA-2’s will be racing Saturday Afternoon and Sunday morning.

“I feel pretty good going into this weekend’s races at Virginia International Raceway,” said Noland. We’ve made gains throughout the year with these Mike Cope Racing guys and I feel like we really have a chance to pull off our first Trans Am Series victory this weekend.”

Though he hasn’t turned a single lap of practice at VIR. Noland confesses he’s been working on the racing simulator to get up to speed.

“We’ve been putting in a lot of hours on our simulator,” Noland continued. “While it’s not an exact match to the racecourse, it gives you an idea as to where your shift points are and how hard you can attack the corners. We only get a hand full of practice sessions this weekend so we want to make sure they count.”

It’s bound to be an exciting event this weekend at one of America’s most beautiful race courses. While we encourage fans to visit VIR in person. Fans can watch Jett race in the Trans Am TA-2 Series Saturday from 1:45pm – 3:00pm and Sunday starting at 11:05am on the Trans Am App.

“I’ve never felt more confident in these Mike Cope Racing guys,” Noland said. “They do an excellent job putting together a fast hot rod and keeping us up front.”

“While I haven’t raced at Road America before, I’ve gotten a lot of time in on the simulator,” Noland continued. “I think that experience will really help me close the gap on my competition this weekend.”

Race Preview: Trans-AM at Brainerd

July 8, 2020 – Jett Noland and Mike Cope Racing are back at it this weekend as the Trans Am TA-2 Series rolls into Brainerd, Minnesota looking to capitalize on forward momentum made at Mid-Ohio.

“I’m excited to get back into the Trans-Am Car,” said Noland. “We did really well last time out at Mid-Ohio for not ever seeing the track before regardless of the outcome. I think we can do that here again at Brainerd.”

What makes Jett so confident?

“I have a great team behind me,” Noland continued. “These boys at Mike cope racing build the best cars in Trans Am hands down. Then look at my sponsors, Noland’s roofing is the biggest roofing company in the State of Florida. I get to represent them on a national platform. That’s amazing. I know I need to go out there and represent them along with all the men and women who work at Cypress Ridge Hunting Preserve, and show the results that we’re capable of.”

While many would say that’s a lot of pressure on a 16 year old driver, that’s the reality of being a professional race car driver in 2020.

Fans can watch Jett race live on the Trans Am app and on Trans Am Timing and Scoring Sunday July 12th starting at 11:15am.

Race Recap: Trans AM at Mid Ohio

June 29, 2020 – Jett Noland competed in his second Trans AM TA-2 event this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sprots Car Course, picking up a 6th place finish in the process in his Mike Cope Racing Noland’s RoofingCypress Ridge Hunting Preserve Mustang.

While starting 8th in his first ever trip to Mid-Ohio, Noland quickly found a groove and patiently migrated his way through the field. As the clock zeroed in on the final 10 minutes of competition, the yellow flag came out for Rafa Matos coming to a stop on the track, which marked the end of the race. Though officials would throw the green flag after time had expired for a one lap showdown. In this lap Noland would get caught up with Mike Cope Racing teammate Misha Goikhberg. But it would be for not as race officials would refer back to the last lap run before the clock expired.

“I’m glad the race officials reviewed the tape and got the call right,” said Noland. “After what happened at Sebring, these boys at Mike Cope Racing have worked too hard to have the race end like that again. I’m happy for my teammate Thomas Merrill on picking up the victory.”

While many wonder if things are good between Noland and Goikhberg, Noland quickly smiled.

“Yeah, we’re good. He had an issue on the final lap, unfortunately we got involved. But he’s fine, we’re fine, and we’re ready to get after it in the next round.”

The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli rolls on to Brainerd, Minnesota July 10-12 for it’s next competition. Stay tuned to JettNoland.com for schedule updates on where the Noland’s Roofing – Cypress Ridge Hunting Preserve ride will be next.

June 22, 2020 – Jett Noland returns to the Trans Am presented by Pirelli TA-2 grid this weekend at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Armed with a brand new Mike Cope Racing built chasis, Noland looks to break into his first road racing podium.

“I’m so excited to be going to Mid Ohio with this Mike Cope Racing team,” said Noland. “These guys built me a heck of a hot rod. We tested it at VIR last week and it’s pretty impressive right out of the gate.”

Noland looks to continue his momentum fresh off of a Pro Late Model victory at New Smyrna Speedway last Saturday night and he feels that the Mike Cope Racing crew can make that happen.

“We’re starting to hit our stride heading into the summer,” Noland continued. “I’m starting to feel comfortable behind the wheel again and I can’t wait to see what we can do this weekend at Mid Ohio.”

Race Recap – Trans AM: Sebring

March 1, 2020 – After battling with the top five all day, Jett Noland comes home ninth in his Trans Am TA-2 debut at Sebring International Raceway.

This marks an excellent outing by the 16-year-old driver out of Clermont, Florida. After starting in the eighth position Noland methodically worked his way through the field throughout the race. Then on a restart with less than five to go it all went sideways as Jett was sent spinning. Still, he was able to gather it up and come up with a respectable ninth place finish on the day.

“I can’t thank my Mike Cope Racing crew enough for all the effort they put into this endeavor,” said Noland. “I’m not used to making all these left and right turns, but they did an excellent job coaching me through it and getting me up to speed so quickly. I feel like we had a top-five run brewing before the caution came out. But that’s racing. I can’t wait to come out here and do it again.”

While Noland already has a decent schedule ahead of him, he’s really looking forward to continuing with the Trans Am TA-2 Series.

“These cars are so much fun to drive,” said Noland. “They really remind me of the Super Late Models I’m used to racing throughout the Southeast. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The competition is great, the racers are from all walks of life, and the paddock is full of skilled veterans. I think we’ll have to commit to running a few more of these before the year is out.”

Weekend Preview – Trans AM: Sebring

February 28, 2020 – Jett Noland and the Mike Cope Racing Enterprises crew are at historic Sebring International Raceway for the start of the Trans Am presented by Pirelli 2020 Season. Where Noland will be driving the No.99 house car in the TA2 class in his inaugural start.

“I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of this beautiful machine,” said Noland. “Mike Cope builds some impressive rides and I’m just chomping at the bit to get behind the wheel of this No.99.”

Being Noland’s first time in a car that turns both left and right in quite a while, there is expected to be a bit of a learning curve. But Noland feels confident he’s got the right team in place to get him up to speed quickly.

“It’s been a few years since I was racing go-karts,” Noland laughed. “But these cars are like the perfect marriage between a road car and a Super Late Model which I’m very accustomed to these days.”
